Windows 10 goes live today and we have it available for installation on new towers.  If you signed up for the upgrade, mentioned in one of our previous articles, you will shortly be offered the opportunity to install.  If you would prefer, we can do this installation for you to ensure that you do not lose your data.

Windows 10 is on its way, most of you will probably already know this and have read reports online, in newspapers or even seen a TV news report extolling the virtues of Microsoft's newest and greatest operating system.  But what does the introduction of this new system at the end of July 2015 mean to the average user?  Is it something to be worried about?  Do you have to do something to get the free upgrade and should you get the upgrade.  Hopefully this article will give you a little more information and help you to make the choice.

This update has been issued for general release. It does have certain advantages, for example it installs a Start button (not in the same sense as an XP Start button but it does have links to some of those features) and it allows you to boot straight to Desktop.  On the downside, it tries to encourage you to use cloud computing more, wanting you to use SkyDrive and appears to insist upon a Microsoft account.  Many people are encountering problems during or following the installation of this update.

In the opinion of Alien Technologies, at the moment, we would recommend that you DO NOT attempt to upgrade to 8.1 especially if you machine is a business critical machine.
