We have previously written an article on how to watch English TV programmes over the internet, We can now advise that a company called Anchorfree have released a program which enables you to watch English television channels for free providing you have a broadband speed of at least 1MB.

If you try to connect to the BBC or ITV iPlayers as a Spanish resident you receive the message that this program is not available in your area.  What happens is that the iPlayers look to your computer for the IP address, the IP address tells them which country you are connecting to the internet from and since they are only authorised to broadcast within the UK they cannot allow you access.

The Expat Shield program provided by Anchorfree is a free download which provides you with an english IP address thus fooling the iPlayers into believing that you are connecting to the internet from within England. 

On the downside, at the top of each webpage you will see an advert which if you close will open another browser window containing more adverts but I suppose they have to pay for the service somehow.

I am sure that many of our readers in Spain will appreciate this service but we can also advise that this is not a program that is specific for Spain it will work from any country, i.e Australia, America, Africa, etc
